I. GeneralInformation of UESTC
Renowned as China’s cradle for the national electronicindustry, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (formerlyChengdu Institute of Radio Engineering) is situated at Chengdu, the city ofover a thousand-year-old cultural history in “the land of abundance”. UESTCbecame one of the nation’s key universities in 1960. Then, in 1997 it wasincluded as one of the first universities into“Project 211”, a project in China fordeveloping 100 first-class universities and a number of key fields of researchfor the 21st century. In 2001, UESTC was admitted into the nation's Project985, receiving special support for developing world-class universities andworld-famous research-oriented universities. In 2017, the University wasselected as one of “Double First-class” universities (Top 36). Sixty years’ effortsand cultivations have witnessed the University’s process from sole dependenceon electronic information engineering to all-around programs in electronicdisciplines, and the University now turns out to be a key multidisciplinaryuniversity with electronic science and technology as its nucleus, engineeringas its major field and featured the harmonious integration of science, engineering, management and liberal arts, well prepared at the call of thehistory to come up as a high-level research-oriented university.
II. Introduction toSupervisor and Lab
LUDOVICO MINATI received the D.Sc. degree in Physics fromthe Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Krakow, Poland,in 2017, and the M.B.A. degree in Technology Management from The OpenUniversity Business School, Milton Keynes, UK, in 2021. He has held researchand consulting roles across academic institutions and private entities, including the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, the Institute of NuclearPhysics-Polish Academy of Sciences, the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute, Milan,Italy, and the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, U.K. He joined the School ofLife Science in UESTC, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, in 2023. He hasauthored more than 150 articles, cited more than 4000 times, and severalpatents. Representative results have been published in Physical Review Letters,Chaos, Chaos Solitons Fractals, Nonlinear Dynamics, and other journals. He iscurrently a Professor and Excellent Young Talent (Overseas) at UESTC.
The Interdisciplinary Nonlinear Dynamics Laboratory (INDLab),led by Prof. Minati, is focused on the multidisciplinary study of connectivity, synchronization and dynamics. On the one hand, it will further expand on theprevious accumulations in chaotic electronic circuits by modeling new and morecomplex networks in an attempt to create physical models of large-scale braindynamics. The lab will further focus on engineering applications such asdistributed sensing and reserve pool computing. On the other hand, through thestudy of these physical models, attempts will be made to obtain betterbiomarkers for early disease detection based on EEG. One key goal of theresearch will be to improve EEG analyses and the modelling of brain dynamics.Write that my lab has a close collaboration with Joint China-Cuba Laboratoryfor Neurotechnology and Biomedical Engineering, the research will be developedin collaboration with prominent neuroscientist Prof. Pedro A. Valdes-Sosa,especially regarding EEG analyses and their application to public health issues.
